I found this book by fluke on my local library’s online catalogue, as I had not heard of this author before, but now I am so glad I did. What an excellent, deliciously sexy and heartwarming story!
Sometimes love comes when we least expect it or when we most reject it. Whilst Sydney had written off Scott a long time ago, she must now deal with the unexpected ‘butterflies-in-your-stomach feelings that she gets after seeing him again for the first time in over 10 years. And whilst he was having his own challenges accepting a woman he had known to be his father’s most trusted employee, he had to admit that there was something profoundly special about her. Thrust into each other’s lives again by unexpected circumstances, they each must learn to navigate their journey to finding true
I always root for the hardworking underdog; so it was easy to root from Sydney, right from the get-go. She is a hardworking, kind, and no doubt a powerful woman at Blackstone Holdings, but what I love most about her is that she does not allow her power and influence to cause her to lose her humanity and self-awareness. Having had a really challenging and troublesome childhood, I most admired that she rose above them and did not let them make her a victim, or cause her to harden her heart. She is a strong woman who loves people, and this is evidenced in the way she treats everyone she encounters, never using her “Blackstone Privilege” to a belittle or objectify others, a quality which we see in Scott. The author does a great job in making us desire Scott to change for the better, because we want him to be perfect for our Sydney.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and connected with Sydney on so many levels. I will definitely be looking to read more books by this author.
